New Domain ideas

Hello,
I currenly own 2 domains.
Domain #1 is my zen-cart website.
Domain #2 has nothing on it yet, I am thinking about using domain #2 as blog or something to point to domain #1. Domain #2 will be search "engine friendly", its a good domain.
What I am asking should I persue making a blog for domain #2 that will point to Domain #1 or is there another method I can use domain #2 for to get more traffic to Domain #1. Any suggestions are appreciated. From what I have read blogging is there way to go, looking for someone with experience thanks!

A blog is only as good as its content... but you are better served to host your blog on the same domain as your store. domain.com/blog for example.

This helps to build authority, relevancy and links to the domain you need to rank.

Any suggestions for domain #2 that I can do to point to domain #1 besides a blog then?

You could still build a blog on domain 2..... and create unique content from domain 1... This adds relevant backlinks and some convertible traffic. But if you duplicate any content from domain 1 or post low quality content... its a waste.
