In Shopsite you have the ability to add and "add to cart" and "view cart" button anywhere you want on your website. I already have a 180 page website added and I would like to be able to just go in and add buy it now buttons next to all my product descriptions. Is that possible with zen cart?

Short answer: no.

Long answer: Zen Cart is not designed to be pulled apart and tacked on to other sites like that. If you want to use Zen Cart for all of its security features and everything else you get with it, then you'll need to get the product info out of your current site and reassemble it inside Zen Cart.
