When I add product, shopping cart remains empty

My problem is that when I add product to the cart, the cart remains empty, very much like this problem (I use Paypal Website Payments Standard):

I am using PHP Version: 5.2.11 (Zend: 2.2.0), on Linux 2.6.18. This is a new install. I have the "Add Customer", "Edit Orders", "Order Manager", and "User Tracking" addon's. My site is not yet live. I use SSL through the entire site, and had problems getting this working with the host.

My .htaccess file contains this:
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{HTTPS} off
RewriteRule (.) https://%{HTTP_HOST}%{REQUEST_URI}
RewriteRule www(.) https://domain.com%{REQUEST_URI}

I tried the "Fix Cache Key" fix, but nothing was printed to screen. I checked the CHMOD, it was 755.

I ma having the same problem. Everything was fine until the SSL was installed site-wide. I am still searching the forums for clues!

I found the solution!!!

Here was info from another post:
' The problem with “add to cart” was related to a redirect to change all requests from HTTP to HTTPS. My web host disabled the redirect for me and the problem was solved. The shopping cart now redirects all users from HTTP to HTTPS automatically when they try to log in or run check out process. '

This redirect is found in your .htaccess file for your domain.

I was also using the SSL on the entire domain, but it was problematic with the cart. Once I edited the config.php files as directed in the tutorial, and took the command to redirect the whole site to the https, it ran fine.
