On Products page display Manufacturers external url?

V1.38
In Admin under manufacturers you can add the manufactures image and url link, for example sony.com.

I am trying to use the manufactures name on the products page as the link, I found a similar thread on the forum but in that the url they used shows all the products from that manufacturer and I want the link to be the external link that was used for that manufacturer in the admin area, like sony.com.

So I am not sure how to call this, on the tpl_product_info_display.php page this was the code that was posted which I am hoping is close to what I need: -

<?php echo (($flag_show_product_info_manufacturer == 1 and !empty($manufacturers_name)) ? '<li>' . TEXT_PRODUCT_MANUFACTURER . '<a class="manufacturer" href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT, 'manufacturers_id=' . $product_info->fields['manufacturers_id']) . '">' .  $manufacturers_name . '</a></li>' : '') . "\n"; ?>

Any help would be appreciated.:lookaroun

Re: On Products page display Manufacturers external url?

If you turn on the manufacturers_info sidebox (via the Admin->Tools->Layout Boxes Controller), a sidebox with the manufacturer's logo and URL will appear on that page. No coding changes required.

Re: On Products page display Manufacturers external url?

Thanks for the reply but that isn't what I am trying to achieve.

I already have the manufacturers side box in admin showing and it shows a drop down select list with no images, unless I am not understanding you correctly.

But thanks for the reply.

Re: On Products page display Manufacturers external url?

The easy way to get a link to the manufacturer on the product page is to use the field at the bottom of the product creation/edit screen labeled

Products URL:
(without http://)

This will display a link to another website but without an image.

There are TWO manufacturer sideboxes available:

  • manufacturers (which is a pulldown menu for filtering)
  • manufacturers_info (which is the one I'm referring to which shows the mfg logo and link)

Re: On Products page display Manufacturers external url?

Thanks a lot for both replies.

Not sure whether to use the sidebox or try using the code from that in the tpl_product_info_display.php page to get exactly what I was after, anyway I will investigate further.

Thanks again for your help.:D
