Can't add new products

Hi there,

I have managed to create a new category but when i want to add a product (click on it), I get a blank page. I havent changed or added anything in the template. I am using version 1.3.8a.

Anyone, Please???

I'm stuck, please help!

Look in the Catalog ... Product Types ... do you have 5 there?

If you edit the Product General, what are the settings?

If you have not made any changes to your /admin files and directories, you can try to reload all the files and directories for:
/admin

in case there is a bad file or missing file ...

Product General editing:

none
Upload to directory:
Main directory
IMAGE DOES NOT EXIST

Handler Page:
Product
This Product can be added to cart:
ticked
This product type should be considered a sub-type of
Product-General

What do you mean by reloading all the files and directories for:
/admin, how do I do that?

Make sure that the

Handler Page:
product

is written in lower case ...

To reload all of the files and directories for the:
/admin

directory you can get a clean Zen Cart v1.3.8 and FTP the directory:
/admin

over your existing /admin and that will overwrite/update all the files in the /admin and all of its subdirectories ...

You are most welcome ... thanks for the update that your issues were most likely due to a bad, corrupt or missing file and that uploading the original files corrected it ...

Ajeh, I managed to add products to the first category. I cant create a 2nd category though, page goes back to the admin index page.

I really have to wonder about the files that you are uploading to your site ...

These symptoms of your problems sound like bad file uploads or missing files etc.

Have you changed the files in any way in the /admin and the subdirectories?

i have another Zen cart website and have not had these problems with it, and i am trying to upload some of the same files from the 1st site to the 2nd.
Hvae not touched anything in admin and the subdirectories.
Shall i do anotehr reload?

What I would do is rename:
/admin

to read:
/admin_BROKEN

and then make a new directory:
/admin

and load the files ...

See if that fixes this issue ... and hopefully any others ...

I did the BROKEN admin, then re-loaded /admin and got this page when trying to log in to admin:

You need to copy the file:
/admin_BROKEN/includes/configure.php

to your new admin:
/admin/includes/configure.php

OK, once more: I have renamed my admin to admin_BROKEN, now i am copying the admin files from zen cart to FTP.
How do i copy the configure.php? FTP wont let me, only allows re-naming.

Managed to copy configure.php, now both categories and products work. But this is weird, have not had these problems when previously working with zen-cart.

That is because you were overwriting files ...

This time, we renamed the original and reloaded the /admin but it did not have a copy of the 1 file that runs the configuration of Zen Cart ...

Without that file, Zen Cart thinks you are trying to install it ...
