Can I Make My Site a Little Like eBay?

I was thinking of having another category called User products or something ans basically members can upload products etc. and sell (even if it means we as the store get the money) so is that possible or can only admins upload products?

Re: Can I Make My Site a Little Like eBay?

If you are planning on having auctions, rather than just 'buy it now' items, you would be better to go with specialised auction software.

I don't want auctions, just buy now, thanks.

Only admins can upload products. There is a mod called Admin Profiles that allows you to limit access to certain admin functions, but if you're thinking of allowing members of the public to upload products, it isn't really doable in Zencart.

There is something called auction product type in the downloads section. I've played around with it some and it can be made to work well with a little effort.

As far as allowing others to enter products, you can do this with a custom password protected form that collects the info and writes the necessary database tables, but its more than a simple hack.

On the up-side, pretty much anything you can think of can be shoe-horned into ZC with some programming.

If some one say "it can't do that..." it means "no one has done it yet."

Thank you. Do you have links to any of the things mentioned? I think zen cart works really well.
