Re: What is this file?

Melanie

Thanks for the link. i have made the changes and hopefully it will help. I can still get the -c- homepage in Google. Is this right and will it go away in time and be replaced by my correct homepage?

Thanks again

Re: What is this file?

Hi

I've just taken the step of requesting Google to reconsider my site. I have given a full explanation of the issue and explained how well I ranked prior to launching the new website. I'm not sure if this was the right thing to do, but I have done it. Any ideas how long it might be before Google react, if they do!

Thanks

Matt

Reconsideration request are for penalized sites, not poor rank. They will do nothing.

However, logging in to Google webmaster tools you can remove the /-c-.html page and also block it in your robots.txt

Re: What is this file?

Thanks for all your help. I have now blocked the dodgy homepage.

GREAT NEWS:clap:.

Google has found me and I seem to be back to the same place I was with the old site. I like to think it was my request for reconsideration, but probably not!!!

Thanks

Matt

Re: What is this file?

Don't underestimate the "integrity" of search engines...

If your site is "worthy" of good SERPS, you will get them.

The SE's also appreciate that site owners are constantly improving their sites, and that in many cases, people apply new technologies that sometimes radically alter the structures of the site.

Bottom line is simple. If the CONTENT of your site is valuable, relevant and interesting - and is seen to be so by others - your site will enjoy a high ranking in the search engines IF you have made the process of analysing and indexing your site EFFICIENT for the SE's to undertake.

Re: What is this file?

Hi Melanie

I followed your advice and implemented the fix below. All looks fine on Firefox, but the category text has a gone all strange in internet explorer. See link below;

Any help would be great.

Thanks

Matt

It is USEO. This -c- can be remedied by applying this bug fix http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=96924

Cheers,
Melanie
