Admin login gives Internal Server Error

I just switched hosting accounts and all 3 sites are all up and running fine. I am using BlueHost, admin file permission is set to 0755 and cache and cookies are cleared. Zencart 1.3.8a. One of my sites is fine, and login is good, so I made sure all the settings in the other two config files are identical to the working site (except for domain names and db info). No SSL, set to false. But when I go to login to admin in the other two sites I get this in both browsers. There is nothing in the error log. Please help!

One of the non-working admins is https://www.garbplus.com

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.
Please contact the server administrator, [email protected] and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.
More information about this error may be available in the server error log.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

Compare your two configure.php files:
/includes/configure.php
/admin/includes/configure.php

and make sure your paths and database information matches ...

Also check that if you renamed your /admin directory name that the name is referenced correctly in the:
/admin/includes/configure.php

file and that it is not still looking for the:
/admin/

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

The config files match. The admin folder was renamed and is referenced correctly in both config files. What else could it be??? (Tearing my hair out here). Thanks so much for your help Ajeh!

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

26 viewers and no ideas? Anyone? I just dont get it.

The site that is working was just a file and DB copy from the old host. The two that are not working were new zen installs with the old files copied over. Perhaps somewhere this makes a difference???? I am grasping at straws cause I am not a programmer and am basically clueless.

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

Check whether your actual database contains tables with a prefix (e.g. "zen_") and whether it matches the following define statement in your 2 x configure.php file.

define('DB_PREFIX', 'zen_');

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

We are having a similar problem. We switched web hosts in October, and everything has been working fine. In the last week, we are no longer able to log in to the admin. We enter login info, click the button, wait 40 seconds or so, then get the internal server error.

I'm checking the files in FTP and none have been changed recently. How can I troubleshoot this? I tried the enable_error_logging file, but it didn't produce any results.

Thanks in advance!

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

Are you still able to login to your Catalog?

Check your two configuration files for the server:
/includes/configure.php
/admin/includes/configure.php

and make sure that these are configured correctly ...

NOTE: they are different files with similarities on the URLs, paths, database, username and password ...

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

Thanks for the help! Yes, I can log in as a customer, and I've checked both configure files. They look fine, and haven't been changed between the time the admin login worked and when it quit working.

Re: Admin login gives Internal Server Error

The 404 Not Found error should be very specific for a missing file or a file that has not been loaded correctly.

I see that you are using
"Apache/2.2.14 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.2.14 OpenSSL/0.9.8l DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at https://www.garbplus.com Port 80"
I do not know if anyone has issues with this Apache release or authentication methods but it is worth noting?

So let's try something different.

  1. Do you have .htaccess files and if yes rename it temporarily and check.

  2. Rename your index.php and temporarily then create an index.php, or index.htm that outputs only "Hello World"

  3. Compare all the files in the working admin folder to those in the non-working folders.
