disable checkout?

Because we are having a problem with securing our customers login and checkout, is there a way to run our store without those two features? Our store would become an informational website until we can resolve our http to htttps issue. We need to be able to reach our customers at some level for Christmas! thank you

Admin> Configuration> My Store> Store Status - change to Showcase with or without prices.
