import sql from an old site without migrating the layout settings

Hi guys.

I am trying to import a sql file from an old Zencart site to a new instance of ZenCart. I would like to just import the products and not the layout settings from the old site.

We currently are building two other websites which will carry the same products, however the layouts will be different and each time we import the entire ZenCart database the layout gets mangled.

I am just wondering if anyone can tell me which tables in MySQL are responsible for the products and not the layouts so that perhaps I can just import those ones.

Thanks!

Re: import sql from an old site without migrating the layout settings

Are you wanting to import any other data, such as customers, addresses, order history, attributes... ?

Specify exactly what product data you want.

Nothing other than the product info, description, images.. no customer data or anything like that.

This is a brand new store, it only shares the same products as the existing zen cart instance.

Re: import sql from an old site without migrating the layout settings

My tables are prefixed with zen_ but if your's aren't, then ignore the zen_ part below

zen_categories
zen_categories_description

zen_products
zen_products_attributes
zen_products_attributes_download
zen_products_description
zen_products_discount_quantity
zen_products_notifications
zen_products_options
zen_products_options_types
zen_products_options_values
zen_products_options_values_to_products_options
zen_products_to_categories
zen_product_music_extra
zen_product_types
zen_product_types_to_category
zen_product_type_layout

Use phpMyAdmin to export these tables as a SQL dump

I trust you know how to insert the data into the other database?

I'd backup first... of course!

Depending on whether you have meta tags set up for categories and products, you may also use the following:

zen_meta_tags_categories_description
zen_meta_tags_products_description

yeah i know how to import data into the new databases.

Now I'm just gonna export the tables you listed from the old db and try importing them into the new site and see what's gonna happen.

Thanks for the help.

You can also use Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 for exporting and importing data.
