Default 10 lbs added to each product. Why?

I have researched the forum in search of an answer to this weird issue I am having with the display of product weight. I haven't been able to find any thread close to my query.

The problem manifests itself when a customer views the shopping cart. The weight of a product added to the cart is, say, 1.5 lb. Above the table that shows the products added to the cart, there's this text: Total items: 11.5 lbs. If I add another item that is, say, 2 lb, then the "total items" will show 23.5 lbs, thus adding a default 10 lbs to the actual weight of each product.

How do I eliminate this default 10 lbs?

The settings for this are under ADMIN >>> CONFIGURATION >>> SHIPPING PACKAGING.

Zencart assumes the actual packaging will have a weight too, so when a product weighing 1LB is packed to be shipped, the box it goes in needs to be factored into the total.

In your case, the settings are assuming a packaging weight proportional to your product weight, so you just need to adjust the settings so the calculations are more realistic.

Thank you for a prompt reply. You directed my attention to shipping/packaging, which has multiple options underneath. I tried to make changes to the options I believed pertained to my issue but nothing changed. If you could please be more specific as to which specific option I should make changes to, and what specific changes to eliminate any extra weight other than the actual product weight, I would greatly appreciate.

Thanks for the link, but it simply repeated what you told me in your post. I tried a lot of configurations of x:x to no avail. no changes in the actual cart. I even followed the advice set in this tutorial article: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=223 and set it to 0 to eliminate that line altogether, however, my website remains unaffected...

Perhaps post the settings you are using in the Shipping and Packaging area?

Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status - 0
Package Tare Small to Medium - added percentage:weight - 0:0 (also tried 0:1, 0:5, etc.)
Larger packages - added packaging percentage:weight - 0:0

I've set "Display Number of Boxes and Weight Status" - 0, which is supposed to eliminate that line altogether, however, it won't.

We need to see this in action - your URL and a test account?

One of your template files is causing this ...

If I switch to Classic Template then the weight is right ...

If I switch back to your template then it is adding 10lbs ...

You might use something like Beyond Compare from scootersoftware.com to see what file(s) might be doing this ...

i compared the files and found out that i had accidentally deleted '  Weight: ' from define('TEXT_TOTAL_WEIGHT', '  Weight: ');

Now it works properly.

I was change the percentage but it still show 0 lbs.
although there're a lot of items in cart.

Are you saying you want to change all the weights in your database products table to have 3 more lbs added to the products_weight field?

Is this a permanent change?

I've fixed the problem
I was forget that every product can add weight..
