minimal carts - maximum customization?

adville:

And those damn Home links in horizontal bars - albeit transparent - won't go away.

You're going to need some kind of site navigation; I'd leave the top navigation bar as is, Otherwise no one will be able to find the login page.

You can get rid of the breadcrumb bar by going to:

admin -> configuration -> layout settings -> Define Breadcrumb Status (set to 0)

To get rid of the bottom navigation

open your stylesheet.css (includes/templates/my_own_template/css/stylesheet.css)

at the bottom of the stylesheet add the following:

#navSupp {display:none;}

Re: minimal carts - maximum customization?

well I realize that customers will be navigating through to credit card payment pages at checkout, and a Home link there would be helpful, but it's redundant on this page. If I eliminate it from this page does that then affect the other pages they will then navigate through? Can I not just add Home links to those pages? Or don't I have much control over those other pages seeing as they have to conform to credit card checkout norms? thanks!

Without any products listed, it is hard to tell how your navigation would work.

by default, if a customer tries to checkout without first having logged in, they are taken to the login/registration page and afterwords are taken to the checkout page(s).

Re: minimal carts - maximum customization?

http://adville.com/MarqueeCards.html

I really only want the one product page with all ten cards on display, rather than see just one card at a time, and without thumbnail views or anything.

Seeing as each card can be bought in fixed quantities ONLY of 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500, 5000 and 10,000 cards I am not sure how that part is going to work. I've been looking around at other zen carts - particularly cards sites - and I haven't seen any ordering interface item like a pull-down menu for specific quantities. So that is rather frustrating.

before we realized we really HAD to have a cart we were going to just have our printer guy field phone calls. The pull down menu for item quantities is shown on this page:

The quantities can be handled by creating attributes for the cards

I forgot about your footer image:

open your stylesheet.css (includes/templates/my_own_template/css/stylesheet.css)

add the following:

#navSuppWrapper{
margin:0 auto;
padding:0;
background: url(../images/YOUR_FOOTER_IMAGE.gif) center center no-repeat;
position: relative;
height:190px;/* This should be the same height and your footer image*/
text-align: center;
}

Re: minimal carts - maximum customization?

thanks yet again Clyde. Footer added. Looking into that article. Also redoing smaller jpegs of the cards in case I can fit two side by side down the page.

I realize css is a dream for coders as it is so powerful for templates and editing of many pages at once amongst other things. However, it is a designer's (me) nightmare if they are not also coders. People like me depend on saints like yourself to achieve anything using css:)
