Footer gone but shows on log in page

I am unsure if this is the correct place to put the question.

I am new to zen-cart an are customizing my cart to fit my old site - I was playing around yesterday and on the index page the footer is missing (it is correct placed in the tpl_main_page) , the footer is also missing if you click on a product category on the left coloumn but if you click any link under information and for an example at log in the footer shows.

Are there any changes I have done in the admin section or put something wrong in an product/index file?

Looking forward to you help as my brain has collapsed right now and I do not want to mess around to much.....

This is most likely because you have a fatal php error in your customisations and php simply falls over before it gets to rendering the footer.

Although that doesn't result in a completely blank page, the approach for resolution is the same and is described in this FAQ entry.

Thank you very much for the info - I downloaded and implemented the debug error logging utility and that is a real helper - I recommend all to install this if you are customizing your site.
