Same image across multiple attributes

I have a situation where Several products in one category will share nearly identical product attributes. the Zen Cart attribute system fits perfectly with what I need with one exception. Images for attributes are on an individual item basis. I would like all products with Option name foo and value bar to reference the same image.

This is possible now by simply uploading the same image across all products for that value. I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to simplify the process so once an image is added for a value all items that are given that value use the same image.

the products in this category are going to have 3 option groups with a possible 50ish values each. The image for a value will be identical across all items that have the same value I'd really rather not go through the process of selecting and uploading 150+ images every time a new product is added to the category.

Thanks
Nathan

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

Disappointing that no-one has responded to this. I think I am after the same info: I have already set up all my attributes (names and values) and assigned them to the products. Now I want to assign images to the values (they are colours so I have swatch-type images) but it looks like I have to assign the images on an item-by-item basis. It would make more sense to be able to assign, say, mocha.jpg to the value "mocha" in the Option Value Manager but it can't be done there.
Has anyone found a way around this? I assigned one image to one value in the Attribute Controller but it wiped all the other options for that item. No way!

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

How did you try to assign the 1 image for the 1 attribute that you lost the other option values?

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

In the Attributes Controller I selected the product, then the attribute name and attribute value, then assigned an image below. The product had previously had three values for that attribute, but after this it just had the one, with the image.

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

Were you editing an existing Attribute or adding a new one?

Which values are you saying were lost?

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

I was editing an existing attribute. The product had three values for Colour: Black, Bark and Mocha. I tried to add an image for Mocha, as above, but after clicking Insert, Black and Bark had disappeared and there was just one value left, Mocha, with the image.

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

All fixed. The SQL patch was pretty easy and I've saved a copy so I can do easy updates in the future.

Thanks for the update and for posting the link to the instructions on how to do this via the SQL command ...

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

Hi again, reincarnating this thread for a similar issue.
I have two sites for one client, one is retail and one is wholesale but they have pretty much the same products.
I have set up all the attributes on one site and I am now wondering if I can somehow import them all onto the second site all at once, rather than re-create them all over again. Is there any way, using EasyPopulate or some other method?

Re: Same image across multiple attributes

Just in case anyone's watching this thread, I found the answer - Apsona Shop Admin. Search in the forum and you'll find it. It seems pretty good and has a much nicer interface :P

Anyway, I just did one of those stupid Friday afternoon stuff-ups. I took my swatches text file from one site and uploaded it to another site (via SQL loader). So now all my size option values have colour swatches associated with them. Does anyone know how to "unassociate" an attribute image from an attribute???
