Can't wrap my head around this shipping formula...

Hi all,

I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the shipping formula my client wants to use.

They want the shipping to be a certain percentage of the total order, where the percentage changes depending on the zone being shipped to and also changes depending on the total cost of the order.

For example:

If total order is larger than $500 and being shipped to postcode 4065 then we charge 10% or total order, however if order is less than $500 and being shipped to postcode 4065 we charge 5%. Or alternatively if order is still larger than $500 but being shipped to postcode 8090 we charge 15% of total order.

Does this make sense? Would I use a table based module or percentage module?

Can anyone please point me in the right direction?

Thanks!

Please anyone... even just a shove in the right direction would help.

Is there nothing that will do this and I need to build a custom module?

The formula makes no sense, who penalizes for large orders?

You need more details.

Those values and percentages weren't exact, just an example.

I've got a whole table full of percentages for different postcodes, that my client already uses to ship their products from the store, so it makes sense to them and that's all I need to know.

Re: Can't wrap my head around this shipping formula...

Sorry if it came across as harsh, wasn't my intention.

I guess the formula should be something along the lines of...

If Total Order Value is > $500, and postcode equals xxxx then the percentage to charge is Y%

If Total Oder Value is < $500 and postcode equals xxxx then the percentage to charge is Z%

But then the percentage also changes depending on the postcode used.

It makes sense to me in my head, but this is where I'm having trouble and need help. Trying to put it into a formula and finding a module that does something similar.

Re: Can't wrap my head around this shipping formula...

A few lines of the table are...

ZONE / PERCENTAGE TO CHARGE / POSTCODE
/ ORDER VALUES /
>$500 / <$500

Sydney / 20% / 10% / 2000 - 2010
Melb / 30% / 15% / 3800 - 3850
Perth / 40% / 20% / 6500 - 6700

If that makes sense.

Yes, I've used that one before and it looks like just what I need, but does it take a percentage instead of a price value when you are entering the amount to be added?

If yes, do you know the format?

Thanks!
