PayPal payment & delayed mail confirmation

Hi,

Strange things happened:

  1. New user No 50: [CREATE ACCOUNT] on Nov 22, 07.00PM

  2. Got PayPal Payment on Nov 23, 12.00AM from user No 50

  3. Got [NEW ORDER] Ordernumber 117 from user No 17 on Nov 23, 02.10PM (Payment Method: Cash)

  4. Got [NEW ORDER] Ordernumber 118 from user No 9 on Nov 23, 02.50PM (Payment Method: Cash)

  5. Got [NEW ORDER] Ordernumber 119 from user No 50 on Nov 23, 06.10PM (Payment Method: PayPal)

  6. No further PayPal Payment from user No 50 because I got it already, see 2)

Seeing what I mean?

  • 6 hours after the PayPal payment order confirmation 119 came > shoudn't that be 117?
  • between this new orders came: 117, 118

Please open my eyes...

Cu,
R.

Re: PayPal payment & delayed mail confirmation

That's the problem with using the PayPal Website Payments Standard system, which relies on PayPal sending its IPN notification to your store to activate the order. If their systems are backlogged or having problems, you and your customers will have to wait.
If you use Express Checkout instead, you won't have those problems because order-completion is immediate.

But if you're going to use v1.3.7 with Express Checkout, you'll want to either patch your v1.3.7 site here: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=56216 or upgrade to the latest version of Zen Cart, which includes many improvements and bugfixes.
