moving from localhost to live

moving from localhost to live

Do most of you work on your site locally then upload changes to live server, if so do you just upload the override system files you created.
How do you make sure you have uploaded them all?

What about the database tables?
Do you export and import them or does this cause problems with connection.

I have searched this on this forum but have struggled to find anything.

Any help or links appreciated.
