Sending Email from Zen Cart

I am using the latest version of Zen Cart and can not send email either manually or automated when orders are completed. I am using GoDaddy hosting and every time I attempt to send a manual email from the tools category I get an error that says "Could not connect to SMTP host". I have contacted GoDaddy and received several different suggestion on what to enter in the email server port including the following:

relay-hosting.secureserver.net, port 25
hosting.secureserver.net, port 25
hosting.secureserver.net

However, none of these have worked. I am looking for anyone with different suggestions on how to make this work.

I thank you in advance for any help you may provide.

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

Dr. Byte suggested I change hosting companies but I want to do this as a last resort.

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

I just got off the phone with godaddy and have figured out the issue and it has been resolved. For anyone else having this issue here is what fixed it:

use these settings-

SMTP Email account mailbox: [email protected]
SMTP Email account password: your password
SMTP Email Mail Host: relay-hosting.secureserver.net
SMTP Email Mail Server Port: 25

I hope this helps anyone else having the same issues when using Godaddy hosting.

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

That's basically the same as the instructions I pointed you to in the other thread you started on the same topic: http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=142782

In the future, please don't start multiple threads for the same topic, as it creates needless extra work for the support staff and unfinished discussions for future readers who might be looking for similar answers.

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

I have simillar problem with Zen Cart 1.3.8a. My web site is hosted by iTural's Windows server and its smtp server is smtpout.secureserver.net which doesn't work responding error message "Email Error: SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.".

iTural suggested me to use relay-hosting.secureserver.net, but it also responds with error message "Email Error: The following From address failed: [email protected]".

I set Gmail as administrator's identity and [email protected] as E-mail address sent FROM, and this is what:
Above error situation has been occured when I use Gmail as a sender while I logged in as administrator using the Gmail and I've got Tell A Friend testing message successfully when I use [email protected] as a sender even though I have logged in using Gmail.

In conclusion, I believe that I have to use [email protected] instead of Gmail and I also have to use relay-hosting.secureserver.net instead of smtpout.secureserver.net. Is that right Dr. Byte?

Hope this would help for new Zenners like me...

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

Have you tried another email sending option like sendmail or PHP mail?

The other better option is to send emails to your host to ask them to resolve your problem. You pay for it (not much but its money) and they are supposed to help you.

Re: Sending Email from Zen Cart

iTural is just a GoDaddy reseller, so you're really using GoDaddy hosting. Thus, the same settings apply: Use your actual hosting email account as your username, and use the GoDaddy settings described earlier.
