zencart and SSL certificate help needed

Here is the problem:

both config files have been set to having ssl as true, the url for ssl has been set to https://

if we change our bookmarks to https it will go to the secure section correctly but then we click the links and they are rverted to the http

the host says that the SSL is active (it says so in the control panel) and that we have to go into all the files and change every instance of http to https

is that what we need to do, I know my host said I had to do that for the images

in config files there is the place to set the regular url to http would it hurt anything to set both the secure and regular url to https?

https://www.pennylanebridal.com.au/shop

that will take you to the splash page of the store then clicking home or anyother link in the menu will send you to the http part....no warning of leaving a secured area.

Sounds like your setup is working correctly.

An 'https' connection is only required for certain pages, such as login and the checkout pages. You do not need every page to use an 'https' connection.

The learning is in the doing.

Re: zencart and SSL certificate help needed

Thanks Rob, we thought since it was a little gold lock in the corner then the entire store should have that...lol now the login page though did not have the https and the checkout did not either. Our main problem was that eway would only go so far then it spit up the error that "Sorry, we are not accepting payments from your region at this time." It still spits out the error but now it goes further than before, it would not work at all with the site having some http pages and some https ones.

the payment zone is set to none

what I did was go to the config files and remove the http:// link from both of them and also set the admin to be under the SSL part...seems to be behaving. Now whatever link we click on sends us to a secure url, hope that doesn't mess up the stie any...did I do wrong?

Re: zencart and SSL certificate help needed

For all kinds of reasons, you should not be using 'https' for every page. Suggest you change things back in your two config files although, in the Admin config file you could use an 'https' connection for all 4 lines near the top, where 'http' or 'https' are mentioned. Change it so all 4 URLs use 'https://yourdomain.com'. Every page page within your Admin would then use 'https'.

The learning is in the doing.

I see, well then I have no idea how to set eway to behave for it will not allow even a test sale without the https

thanks
