Ok just set up overrides and new custom template

ok so i just got done setting up my override folders and made all the names the same CUSTOM. I made a new template named CUSTOM also, by following https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=142 . and went into admin and selected the CUSTOM template. But the site looks different now, It as wide as possible and all colors are different from the original template. I want my template to be same "layout" (i dont know if this is the right word for it) as the default but I just plan on changing some of the stylesheet for colors and fonts. I have overridden some the the includes/languages/english/html_includes files like the privacy policy and contact us by placing the edited files into includes/languages/english/html_includes/CUSTOM folder so I believe i have got the overrides set up right i just dont know why the look of my site changed? becuase the css folder under my custom template is the same as the default. I appreciate any help anyone can give me and i hope you can understand what i am tryin to say.

Re: Ok just set up overrides and new custom template

The Classic template (green) is the template that a stock
ZC has selected when installed. If that's the template you're basing your custom template on, then you need to copy (at least) the Classic css folder, images folder, and your altered (to reflect your template "custom" name) template_info.php file to your custom template folder.

Hope this helps!

Hey Tshooters, when you say the "classic css folder" are you talkin about the includes/templates/classic directory or the "classic (green) template which the directory is the includes/templates/template_default?

Thanks for the reply!

Re: Ok just set up overrides and new custom template

The "Classic Contemporary Green" template is in the /classic/ folders, NOT the /template_default/ folders. There is no template to select for /template_default/, and it is not meant to ever be used as is; it is the base for all custom templates to work from.
