Individual unique event tickets

I am wondering if there is a function that can sell individual, one-of-a-kind tickets. I work for a baseball team and we are planning on being able to sell game tickets online. Even individual redeemable vouchers would be fine.

Is this possible on Zencart?

Re: Individual unique event tickets

Every order has a unique sequential number; of course, if two tickets are ordered at once, you would have one order of two tickets, not two separate unique tickets.

People have created unique serial numbers or keys for downloadable products, so you might be able to adapt that approach to getting unique tickets without restricting orders to one ticket each. They made a separate db table of hashed numbers and wrote code to pick one of those numbers for each product (making sure the same number would not be picked twice).

Re: Individual unique event tickets

Ok that sounds good!

So if the buyer is sent a unique "confirmation #", as well send an email to our box office manager, and directed the buyer that the tickets are available at the box office that would work?

Re: Individual unique event tickets

A simpler way to do it might be to combine the unique order number with an attribute value that is incremented for each ticket in an order. The customer selects ticket x with an attribute quantity 2, and the code separates those into two items with sequential attribute values at checkout. The existing code knows that if the same product is added to cart twice with different attributes, they should stay as separate items in the cart. An expert coder should be able to get something like this result without too much difficulty, and for game tickets it would probably have a quick payback.

If you have the tickets for pickup at the box office with the order confirmation number, that would work fine without any extra mods.

You would want to also check for customer name or something, so someone can't pick up another order by mistake.
