line feeds in order confirmation email

At the end of the order confirmation email I have several lines of instructions.
Right now there are no line feeds after each line of instruction. How can
I add line feeds after each instruction? I tried setting up the email for HTML MIME
and putting <br /> after each instruction but that did not work. Also tried
putting "\n" for a line feed. That also does not work. Any suggestions?
Appreciate the help.

I am providing some additional information regarding this issue.
The text in question is in the moneyorder.php file,

define('MODULE_PAYMENT_MONEYORDER_TEXT_EMAIL_FOOTER', 'my text'

where I want to have line feeds within 'my text' .

Thanks.

It appears that functions_email.php may be set up to reject/ignore
email that has the "\n" in the fields. So now I am at a loss.
Anybody have suggestions?

EUREKA !! SUCCESS !! I figured out how to get the information on separate
lines. It just took a bit of ingenuity! In the moneyorder.php file where I have
defined the EMAIL_FOOTER message, instead of having everything on one line
I pressed the 'RETURN' key where I wanted the breaks. Now the system
processes the return key. How simple!

Thanks for the update on what worked for you on this ...
