Urgent! SEVERE WEBSITE SLOWNESS - Please HELP :(

I have had this issue for some time now and i cant for the life of figure out WHY!! It is seriously doing my head in...been over 2 months and gets worse..

Basically the site takes ages to load, up to 30 seconds on a 8mb BB connection! I have tried on many other systems and internet lines and the same problem.

I am even getting feedback from my customers saying the site is very slow, just managed to complete transaction and site timed out!

Modules: no telephone number, lightbox, google base XML maker and some others...

It loads quite quickly on my system (I am also in UK).

Who is your host? Have you raised this with the host?

Having same problem, as are others Did you use Easy Populate? Can't be that many bad hosting sites got to be something in ZC or EP Your site did not come up at all (US)

Its not so much that they hosts are BAD,
its the fact that most hosts are not designed for high end mysql performance.... so they overload the servers with accounts to ge the most bang for the buck.....

Using godaddy as an example we have found cases where they have upwartds of 1500 sites per server...

thats not normally a problem unless a large number of them are using e-commerce or some other high use platform

My website is hosted with One.com

I have several other sites with them and they do not have these issues. This is the only Zencart store i have with them.

I have been through the usual 'speed up your site' manuals and tips..wandering if i need to change hosts.....

Is there any way i could test the site to see what the problem is? Maybe a Debugger? Or maybe just to tell whether the problem is my host?

It takes 30 seconds before I start seeing anything for the page (US connection). And, then at that point the page loads very quickly.

You don't have the parse times displayed, so it's rather difficult to guide you.
Admin->Configuration->Logging->Display The Page Parse Time ---- set to True.

One.com appears to have a very bad (slow) Network connection. Nothing you can do about it.

My logging for Home page shows:
Parse Time: 12.669 - Number of Queries: 343 - Query Time: 0.551466162369

then product page:
Parse Time: 10.241 - Number of Queries: 226 - Query Time: 0.644152260056

Mean anything? What could the problem be? I am looking into alterntive Hosting companies as i write....do you recommend any that will guarantee FAST speeds and is also cheap?

Your query times are fast, and the parse times are very slow.
So, the problem is not database-related.
The problem is parse time, and that is handled by the webserver and PHP engine. When that is slow, it usually means the server has too many websites on it ... which is common practice with hosting companies over-selling their services, to cut down on costs ... similar to Merlin's comment about GoDaddy's practices.
So, either the server is overloaded, or doesn't have enough CPUs or processor speed. Adding RAM may or may not help.

But there is an additional problem: 10-12 seconds parse time (the time it takes from when the page is first "started" until it is finished drawing) is only a fraction of the time we are experiencing when trying to access your site. Since it's taking 30+ seconds to even start seeing anything on your site, the other 20+ seconds appear to be slowness in the internet connection between your server and the rest of the internet ... which suggests that your hosting company either has low-grade (or failing) equipment in-house, or has opted to pay for cheaper, slower connection to the internet, presumably to keep costs down. Unfortunately that's also hurting you.

Go to your computer's Command Prompt:

(Run cmd)

and do a tracert

At the command prompt type: tracert pricethriller.com
