Will Dance for Food!

Hi everyone,

I purchased a new template. Its in a zip file which unzipped contains 2 folders (1 called Admin and 1 called Includes). I have uploaded these first of all unzipped to the appropriate places in Zen Cart but this did not add a new template to my templates in the Admin.

I then removed all the uploaded files and instead tried the Theme Uploader in the Zen Cart Admin. Here it would not accept any of the files as being the proper format so I instead uploaded the entire zip (unzipped) and this also had no effect on the templates available to me??

What do i have to do?! I am now willing to pay someone $30 to re-install Zen Cart and the new template on my server! Or someone please HELP!!

Save your money. Both of those folders (admin and includes) should be uploaded to the root (top directory) of your site, and all the files and folders inside will fall where they need to be. Then the new template name should appear in Admin - Tools - Template Selection.

The above assumes that the template designer followed standard Zencart file and folder conventions.

Re: Will Dance for Food!

Thanks Steve, with Ireland being in the depths of recession I can do with all the savings I can make BUT I did do this already to no avail! I purchased the template from .zen-cart-power.com so Im presuming that its all in order - maybe thats not so wise!

I will say that I first installed Zen Cart using an Application Vault on the Control Panel of my Hosting Account. This unfortunately locates the Zen Cart files and folders on a different server so I had no access to the folders through FTP. I then deleted this and manually installed Zen Cart using FTP. When I did I got the message that session.use_trans_sid setting in PHP.INI is set to ON which can cause handling issues etc. I have been in contact with my Hosting company and they have said that I do not have access to PHP.INI but I could secure it with .htaccess file. But I wonder will this even have any effect on my template?

$30 would be well spent sorting this out, I've little enough hair as it is!

Re: Will Dance for Food!

That php.ini setting wouldn't affect the template. I downloaded one of the free templates from that provider and it installs the way I advised, so I assume yours would be the same.

In many hosting accounts the root folder is public_html. If you have that folder, that's where those template folders go.

You might also check to see that includes/templates/YOUR_PURCHASED_TEMPLATE_NAME/template_info.php exists and is in that folder.

Re: Will Dance for Food!

Thanks for all your help Steve, I deleted and re-installed Zen Cart and uploaded a new .htaccess file to the root which took care of the session_trans_sid issue. I then uploaded the new template folders and all is working perfectly!!

Thanks a million! Now to find a payment gateway!!
