Show list of subcategories in category page

Install status: Fresh install
Mods: CSS hover nav, customized template from purchased template

I am currently trying to show a list of the subcategories in one of the "main category" pages. For instance, if you take a look at this page:

Right now it's blank, but I basically want to display the category images here, or maybe list the subcategories on this page. I don't know which one yet, I have to see which one looks better, but if anyone has any ideas on how to do this that would be great. Thanks!

Your template designer has permanently removed the standard ability to show subcategory thumbnails.

Search on the red text to find the thread with instructions to fix it.

Then write to the designer and urge them to correct this problem in the template, as it is causing numerous users to take up time in the forum to fix somebody else's mess. The same effect can be gotten by including a SQL statement in the template package, leaving the admin setting usable in Configuration > Product Listing >
Show Sub-Categories on Main Page while navigating through Categories

This can be preset for the template while leaving final control in the user's hands.

I want to turn off the images for the subcategories. Is there any way to just have it automatically list the sub categories and not do images?

Not sure if that works with your template or not but you can try it ... :smile:

I had both of those already off. That turns on or off the subcategory image that would show up on the product page not on the parent category page.

I wanted to turn off the subcategory image that shows on the parent category page. I found a solution though not ideal. I took off the reference to the image for each subcategory.

I wish there was a way to just turn them off on a "Category listing" page or something of that nature, because whos to say I won't want these images back some day. I wnt through a bit of work to assign them and now I have to keep it as a spreadsheet as to what photo goes with what subcategory.

You can add to your stylesheet

.categoryListBoxContents a img {display: none;}

and the images in that listing will be gone without disturbing them anywhere else.

I have problems with showing subcategories on category page in some cases.

1)I have seen other forums and check all the settings for the admin.
2)I use multisite module and I checked sites' relations
3)I don't see this kind of this code in the source of the category page <!-- hsyong remove categories thumbnails -->
