Change main co name text color?

New install on:
https/www.scalemodelbuilder.net
ZenCart 1.3.8

So far I have modified the main header banner, changed the colors of the boxes.
Not really live yet, only access is to link or key in.

I am unable to change the color of the company name from gray to white. If I mess with (in includes/languages and includes templates) the <h1>etc, I can get different sizes and black text. I want the size I have or a little larger and white text. I am unable to locate the code that does that, or don't have the knowledge to do it.

Would also like the very top bar to be all blue, no white gap. Used the same file as I made for the others, but does not go all the way across the top like the old green one did. Do I need to modify the file or something else?

apppreciate any help
Jack

Re: Change main co name text color?

I'm not sure where you made the changes you've made so far, but the best way to change colors of those elements is in the stylesheet.

I'd recommend you change everything back, then change the background colors by editing stylesheet.css in your template's css folder.

The top bar is #navMain.

The gray text (your company name) is #tagline.

The bottom bar is #navSupp.

I also recommend you get the Web Developer plugin for the Firefox browser. Makes finding stuff like this a lot easier.

Re: Change main co name text color?

Ok, can you explain more about the plug in please....why, what does it do?

Thanks so much for the variable names.

Most of my changes have been in stylesheet.css
Some of my changes have been in languages/english/header_bg.php

Re: Change main co name text color?

Well I found the #tagline and the color statement, but if I change it and save, it does nothing. (in stylesheet)

If I go and change header.php in English/classic from h1(it is gray that way) to h2 it becomes black even with the change in the stylesheet.

Re: Change main co name text color?

The Web developer plugin allows you to place your mouse pointer over a part of the page and it will show you what CSS statement in the stylesheet affects that element. You can also make changes to the stylesheet and see them in real time, so you can try stuff without permanently changing anything. Give it a try - very handy.

You really should be changing those colors in the stylesheet. In your case, it would be includes/templates/classic/css/stylesheet.css. You may have changed the wrong file.

Re: Change main co name text color?

Do you have a link for the specific plugin? There is a huge list of "web development" plugins.

That is the file I am editing by the way...

Re: Change main co name text color?

Well not exactly sure how to fully utilize the plug in, but I did figure out my issue.

Had to change the "h1" variable color value to get what I wanted, was hard coded in. (In sylesheet.css)

I suppose eventually I will get there, haven't done any coding since 1993 and these languages were only thought of (maybe) back then. But I did manage to retain the concepts, just need to learn the languages and protocols.

Also learned that to change my box top bar colors that I need to eliminate the phrase to use the file "tile_back.gif" and just put in the dang color.
Thanks for the help.
