right side boxes are not showing on homepage

I have set the global settings for both right and left side boxes (columns) to show. The left side boxes are showing up on all pages.

But the right side boxes are only showing up when I click on a product. I want them to show up on the homepage and all other pages too. Please help. Thanks.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

I have also noticed that the contact us page and shipping etc. seems to be wrong. It doesn't have the contact form or the footer. What could be the problem there?

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

Something wrong with a redirect, maybe? When I click on Homepage, everything seems to be OK, and on the other pages after that.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

Oh sorry. the site is http://www.pbdriedfruit.co.uk/ I've taken the link off that goes to the other site.

On the homepage, there is no right side column. But when I click on a product, then I see the right side column. I want the right side column to show on every page.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

Your homepage output is cutting off immediately after

<div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content">

The same thing is happening on your Privacy page and most likely the rest.

<div id="privacyDefaultMainContent" class="content">

So your problem is probably with the file that processes *DefaultMainContent.
/includes/templates/your_template/templates/tpl_index_default.php does this:```php

<?php /** * get the Define Main Page Text */ ?> <div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content"><?php require($define_page); ?></div> ``` If the require is corrupted, or $define_page contains corrupted/incorrect information, that would explain it.

Actually, since the id="indexDefaultMainContent" is hardcoded in that file, the problem has to be in the variable the file calls. The privacy index file would call the same variable.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

<div id="indexDefaultMainContent" class="content"><?php require($define_page); ?></div>

That is what is in the tpl_index_default page. It looks ok doesn't it? I'm not sure I understand what you mean then as that seems to be good.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

Yes, my afterthought was that that file was ok in your site; it is the $define_page that is being called that is wrong.
It will take some digging to find where that is being corrupted, and I have to leave now. Hopefully someone else can take over on this.

Re: right side boxes are not showing on homepage

$define_page is a variable that holds a value created elsewhere in the code.
In this case, it will be the path to a file which is to be processed. ###Your SEO mod (which rewrites URL info) might be interfering with the pathname creation.###
Oops - my mistake - you don't have an SEO mod, that was someone else I was looking at just recently.
What happens if you turn that off? What happens if you switch to the /classic/ template?

You might try installing the error logging debug utility from Free Addons; it will put a message in your /cache/ folder when the output cuts off.

Busymum, not sure if this is of any help...

I have a fresh install of ZenCart 1.3.8a and I'm going through the installation process. I also got to a point where, using the default green template, that my right sideboxes stopped showing on the homepage.

I just tracked it down to a small error I made while adding the suggested bug fixes to various files, which resulted in my homepage only partially completing before an error occurred, hence no right sideboxes.

I suggest that you switch on error reporting in your homepage to see what errors are being generated, which should point you to the correct file causing the error.

To switch on error reporting, edit your relevant tpl_index_default.php file (it will either be in /includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_index_default.php or in the relevant place inside the template you are using)

At the top of the file, just before the first ?> tag, insert this command: error_reporting(E_ALL);

Save the file and browse to your homepage to see what it tells you.

Remember to remove the error_reporting command after you've tracked down where the error is occurring!

lucky-nz

It is more useful to reply to a thread where your kind of problem was discussed than to pm. If I am online, I will see a thread that I posted in and check on it; if I am away, I won't see the pm, but someone else with info may be able to answer in the thread.

So what exactly is happening for you, what have you tried, and can we see it live?
