Show subcategories in main column..

Forgive me, i know it must be so obvious...

Is there an attribute I need to enable in the admin somewhere to show subcategories on the main page?

Currently, when a category is chosen, im only seeing specials.

Sorry to post such a noob question but I cant find the answer. :blush:

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

P.S. I have 'Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating' set to true in Admin.

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

I would double-check that admin setting you mentioned. That's the only thing I can think of that will turn off that display.

Are you using a custom template that may have turned that off?

May we have a link to your site?

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

Hi Steve, thanks for replying. The site isnt live yet, but here's the category with two subcategories (the product images are placeholder);

http://www.crushcosmetics.com.au/sTor3/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=8

The template is custom. I've actually tried enabling and disabling the "Show SubCategories on Main Page while navigating" option.

Perhaps it is because the of the custom template?

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

I'd guess that the template designer turned that display off. They didn't seem to do it in the stylesheet, so there must have been some non-template files in the template package.

You might ask them about it.

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

Thanks Steve. Actually, I might look at the files in the template_default directory and see if I cant find the code.

Cheers,

Scott.

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

hsyong strikes again!```

<!-- BOF: Display grid of available sub-categories, if any --> <!-- hsyong remove categories thumbnails --> <!-- EOF: Display grid of available sub-categories -->

And write to the designer and complain about this, so we don't keep running into the problem for years to come. They could have gotten the same result by including an admin setting SQL command in the template files instead of deleting standard functionality.

Re: Show subcategories in main column..

All fixed. You're a champion.

For future Zenners who might stumble on my post, here's the exact thread with the required code to fix the problem;

http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=140261&highlight=hsyong+remove+categories+thumbnails&page=2

The specific file you want to edit is;

includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/templates/tpl_index_categories.php

Time to break out a :cheers:
