Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

I have followed the configuration instructions setting up IPN and PDT etc. but when a purchase is made nothing shows up in the paypal account, even though the customer gets a confirmation email indicating that the order was places successfully. Any help would be much appreciated. :dontgetit

Re: Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

If the payment isn't showing in your PayPal account, then the order isn't being paid using PayPal.

What's the payment module name showing next to the order number when you look at your list of orders in Admin->Customers->Orders? --- Column 2 shows the payment and shipping modules. What's there for yours?

What payment modules do you have enabled, in Admin->Modules->Payment ... and why? Click Remove on any you're not actually "using".

Re: Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

Thank you for the fast reply. It only says "cc"....

In the only payment module I have enabled is paypal standard (and the default ones). I haven't configured the shipping yet.

Re: Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

"cc" is what shows when you use the "Offline Credit Card" module which is enabled by default.
You apparently used that to type credit card numbers onto your checkout page ... but that's not how you use a credit card to pay with PayPal. You must choose PayPal if you want to pay by PayPal.

The Offline Credit Card module is only for merchants who have a swipe terminal in their office so they can type the card numbers in manually ... and even that is frowned upon from both a PCI security perspective as well as many terminal contract agreements. Without such a swipe terminal (real or virtual), there is NO WAY for you to process any orders you take with that module.

Click on the Offline Credit Card module, and click the Remove button.

Then do your payment afresh.

Re: Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

I followed your advice, and asked my client to place a test order, but a message appears stating the credit card cannot be used and to try another card...several cards have been tested, but the same message appears?

It seems like we cannot pay with a card without logging in the a paypal account (we havent tried to pay via any paypal account yet).

but a message appears stating the credit card cannot be used and to try another card...I don't think I've seen a PayPal message that's worded exactly like that.
The actual error message would be much more useful.

shopcom:

several cards have been tested, but the same message appears? Are those cards already connected to a PayPal account? If so, PayPal is going to ask you to login in order to use those cards.

Granted, the best way to get an answer as to why PayPal is allegedly rejecting your cards ... is to ask them. What they do with your card data when you're on their site is entirely under their control, and has nothing to do with Zen Cart whatsoever.

Re: Paypal standard - payments not showing in PayPal

Thank you for the fast replies and for your help! I now tried to place an order myself and it is working fine. Yippeee!

It seems like removing the "Offline Credit Card" option solved the issue (as far as the error my client received it's probably because he has those cards attached to some old paypal accounts).

Thanks again for your help!
