Products showing up twice on main page?

I am sure this has probably happened to someone before but I can't seem to find an answer anywhere although I have searched.

i am setting up my new store with Zen Cart - I believe its the latest. On the main page my products titles are showing up twice. Once just the title name and then again with the name and price. How can I prevent this?

One or two of the products are listed in more than 1 category but I have them linked not just reproduced. But it is happening with all the products anyway. Any thoughts?

This is because the picture of your product cannot be found on the server. Thus the alt text is shown, which is the same as the caption. Solution is that make sure the pictures can be found. If there is no product picture, a "No picture available" picture is shown. Since there is a picture on the product page, there is something wrong with your template files for the New products.

Thanks for the quick response but I checked and I do have the pics uploaded. They are in the images/upload folder. The funny thing is when I post the exact pic URL I can't get the pics to upload.
I am not new to website worl - URL is exact, etc - But i can't get these pics to show :blush:

Check the permission for the images folder and the files. If you think its there, your webserver does not have the permissions to access the files. Welcome to the webiste worl :-)

They are in the images/upload folder.

This is NOT the place for product pics... !

The upload folder is used for your customers' images when / if they send YOU images (such as a pic they want embedded into a t-shirt).

All images should go into the images (root) folder, or if you are using the _MED and _LRG system, into these sub-folders (medium and large).

But how did you get them into the upload folder in the first place? Did you specifically FTP them to that folder?

Nope I didn't. At the bottom when you can browse for pics (when you adding new product) it lets you choose where you want the image to go. I chose uploads.

Ok I will try moving them then and changing my choice - so images root folder?

Thanks - now if I can only figure out how to add modules!

Hmmm... if you were using the product add/edit screen to "upload" the image, and you selected the "upload" folder as the destination, then this would be the "path" written to the database and the image should display...

... BUT... BUT... The "upload" folder is protected by a .htaccess file which stops files from being sent to browsers... That is the reason they are not being displayed!

You are also going to have to change your database PATHS as well.

You see... when you add a product in the admin area in the normal way, the VALUE you put in the image upload path is then stored in the database. In your case, you have specified that the product's image is ported up to images/upload

... so even if you now FTP the images to the correct place ( as I pointed out earlier), the database reference is STILL going to be images/upload .

This will need to be corrected, and there are several ways to do this - the easiest (but most time-consuming) is to manually edit each image reference in the conventional product add/edit screen.

Other ways include re-referencing the image path via an Easy Populate upload, or using a SQL command.

Perhaps AJEH can help us with an appropriate line of SQL that you can run through your admin>>>tools>>>Insert SQL Patches
