EasyPopulate 1.2.5.4 upload problem - found a solution
This is a little strange but I found a solution, so hopefully it may help someone else.
I installed easy populate version 1.2.5.4, took some time but I got there eventually.
Once I was familiar with what everything looked like and how to save the file right, which I found 2 different answers on here for that.
I did a test upload on just one product to edit it on my website, I used a line from a downloaded file to make sure I was getting it right.
Finally after about 6 hours of frustratingly trying to work it out, it happened, I managed to edit a product on my website via Easy Populate. Yes Very very proud of myself
I thought I did such a great job I added a few more products to the file, saved it and tried again.
It didn't work :censored:
I thought I must of done something wrong (still not exactly sure what I was doing) and deleted the lines I added, so I had the original line left that I new worked. I edited the price and tried again.
STILL DIDN'T WORK.
I didn't get any error messages, just a message on the bottom saying the the "blah" file uploaded.
I also didn't realise that when the file is uploaded and works that there is a list in blue and green writing confirming which files have been updated and which are new added flies...
Example...
UPDATED! - Model: BGCSB400243 | | Spangles
UPDATED! - Model: BGCSB400242 | | Spangles
NEW PRODUCT! - Model: BGCSPD06405 | | Onion Grass|
NEW PRODUCT! - Model: BGCSPD06402 | | Onion Grass
Ok, now for the weird fix...
If I am working on a file and using that as a template, I simply save the file "save as" and change the file name from the original file e.g. "oniongrass.txt" to "oniongrass2.txt" it uploads and works.
But that file wont upload again unless the file name is edited again or a new file is made.
I have no idea why this works or if this is how it is meant to be, I don't really care cos it now works.
I save all my files as tab-delimited .txt not .csv as I have read in a few different tutorials if that helps anyone.
I hope this helps some other newbies out there.
Chris.
