Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

I am having a few different problems and have been doing research for hours now with zen cart, my hosting site, and paypal with no answers. I hope someone here can help me...

I originally started off hooking up the standard paypal option. Walked through the whole thing and tried it out. The payment went through on paypal and a confirmation from them saying the order was paid for came to my email. But nothing showed up on Zen Cart orders nor did I actually get an email to what was ordered. So after doing a little research here I saw some one mention they had this problem and another told them to use Express instead.

I hooked up the express and now it won't even go to paypal. It gets to the confirmation page, sits there for 45 secs and comes up with an error saying "An error occurred when we tried to contact the payment processor. Please try again, select an alternate payment method, or contact the store owner for assistance. () - (7) couldn't connect to host". I enabled the debugger and when this happens it comes up with 17 or more errors some have to do with paypal, some have to do with the address given, the fact that it "killed the session as requested", "cart contents is not all virtual or customer is not logged in ... therefore will be submitting address details", and many others.

I have no idea....

Sunday:

(7) couldn't connect to host
That is a problem on your webserver.
Zen Cart is attempting to use CURL to connect to the PayPal server in a secure background communication process, but your server's configuration and/or firewall is disallowing it.
Your hosting company will have to fix the problem.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

I can't do anything with my webhost they keep telling me to come here and deal with it through zen cart, and they say my Curl is set up properly. The blame game is really getting out of hand (not on zen carts part). Personally I know its them too but they are telling me its Zen Carts issue.... I have no idea what to do.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

Does it happen always? or just intermittently?

Right now it seems the CURL communications to PayPal is working fine: http://www.sund-morningattic.com/extras/curltest.php?paypal=1 (The ACK details at the bottom show that PayPal is responding to the attempt to contact their server. If CURL wasn't working right, all the numbers would be 0 and you'd be getting an error message such as Couldn't connect to host, etc.)

BTW, once you have things working, you should delete that /extras/ folder from your server, for security reasons so people don't misuse those scripts.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

We just ran the IPN test and saw that everything should be working too, I re-tried checking out and its still happening, same error. It always happens I haven't been able to get 1 order to go through.

Thank you for the heads up on the file, will do.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

Very bizarre, since the curltest.php script uses the same CURL call as the express checkout does.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

Maybe ask your host to tell you whether they've got something set up to block certain scripts from working?

ie: why does a CURL call from /extras/curltest.php?paypal=1 work fine but running the same CURL calls via /ipn_main_handler.php or /index.php won't?

"couldn't connect to host" suggests that the DNS lookup is fine, but when actually attempting to make connection, it's being blocked, either the request or the reply aren't getting through.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

I just want to say that I fixed the issue.. Finally no thanks to my web host's 5 hours in between reponses with simple questions like "How do I check out on your store". But it was a very simple fix, the CURL proxy needed to be set to false just like GoDaddy, I use Just Host. Thanks again for your help Dr.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

I'm having the same problem. Processing payment but not processing order. However I am new to this, and don't know what the CURL proxy is, or how to fix it. Can someone please explain it to me in plain English? Step bu step instructions Annoying, I know, but I am what I am :) Thanks in advance.

Re: Orders not showing up on Zen Cart or being processed....

Green you find the CURL Proxy Status in the admin of you ZC under configuration --->My Store and its at the bottom of the page. It tells you how to do this when you set up your paypal on ZC. Also this solution fixed my Paypal express and thats when it wasen't processing anything just coming up with a error. So I don't know if this will fix yoru problem but it's worth a shot.
