Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Hi,

I am using Zen Cart 1.3.8a. I have succesfully installed Zen Cart and have started customizing my site, but since the very first day, my home page has pointed to my hosting site's "stay tuned -- web site in progress" page. All my pages point to the correct URL, except this one. I must have missed something when I installed Zen Cart or afterwards during the set-up process, but I have searched and searched the tutorials and can't find any help with this. I have 3 templates installed in Admin, and the home page does not display properly for any of them.

This is the URL: http://biz75.inmotionhosting.com/~moonst5/Catalogue/

This is the info in my includes/configure.php file. Is there something I need to change here?

define('HTTP_SERVER', 'http://biz75.inmotionhosting.com');
define('HTTPS_SERVER', 'https://biz75.inmotionhosting.com');

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/~moonst5/Catalogue/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', '/~moonst5/Catalogue/');

Thank you to anyone who can point me in the right direction!

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

You need to remove the index.htm file from your store directory. This is currently over-riding the index.php page as the default page. Your site is there, just hiding at http://biz75.inmotionhosting.com/~moonst5/Catalogue/index.php

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Thank you so much! I've been pulling my hair out over this. I should have joined the forum and asked my question ages ago!

I deleted the index.htm file, because moving it elsewhere didn't seem like the best idea. Hope this is what you meant. In any case, it works... I can view the home page now.

Thanks again!

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Oops! I spoke too soon. The other HOME links are not working either: neither the breadcrumb link over the centre of the page nor the link at the top right of the screen. They both still point to http://biz75.inmotionhosting.com/~moonst5/Catalogue/

Any suggestions for how to change this?

Thank you,

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Hi,

The problem seems to have been an out of place index.html file in my store directory. I had removed an index.htm file earlier, but there was an index.html file lurking around too, which actually belonged in another folder. Also, there appears to be a lengthy time lag (1-2 hrs) before the changes I make in File Manager are visible on my site. Not sure why. I thought all changes took effect immediately. In any case, the problem is solved.

A grateful thanks to all those who responded!

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Check with your host that your files aren't being cached. You may also want to check if you have MySQL db caching. If your host is caching your files, and you update image files, or install something like Image Handler, you won't see the benefit of any of these updates until the files are checked again.

It's worth asking the questions now while you set up your site, rather than in 2 months time when you're struggling with what seems a tiny problem, but uncovers a major issue!

This type of hosting is greart for flat HTML files, and not quite so great for a dynamic site like a store.

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

I'm having the same problem also. When I type in petalsnpleasure.com it goes to the secure admin login page? Where can I find the index.htm file?

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

You don't have the same problem - your issue is a little more complicated than just removing a index.htm file. If it was just a case of removing your .htm file, you should be able to view the who site is you add index.php on to the end of the domain. With your site, you only get a blank page. This means that there is either an error in the script, or this file doesn't actually exist.

The redirects to the admin section are also wierd, as this section shouldn't be linked to the main store at any point with a redirect. Is this a new site or an old one you have moved?

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

This is a new site. I never had or used zen cart before. I may have messed up the codes after reading through all these posts and trying any and everything to get it to work.

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

An index.html page can't point the base to your admin - you have some sort of redirecting going on. Going to yoursite.com/index.php avoids the admin login, but gives a totally blank page with an https address, presumably of the shared SSL certificate.

so what do I do? I did point my domain to petalsnpleasure.com/tshop instead of petalsnpleasure.com. I have since remove that and put it back to petalsnpleasure.com ; Now I get a 403 error.

The ZC files are installed in the /tshop/ folder. I do not believe I have a /public_html/ folder? How do I find this because it doesn't appear in filezilla?

Re: Store Home Page Still Pointing to Hosting Site

Question - why did you post 2 config files on this thread which both state at the beginning

/*************** NOTE: This file is similar, but DIFFERENT from the "store" version of configure.php. ***********/
/*************** The 2 files should be kept separate and not used to overwrite each other. ***********/

You won't have a public_html folder, as your server has a similar folder but calls it htdocs. This is the root folder that the public can access through a browser.

This define:

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/')

should be

define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', '/tshop/');

Similarly, your admin one should be define('DIR_WS_ADMIN', '/tshop/admin/');

I suggest that you look at dist-configure.php in both the include folders, and start again with 2 DIFFERENT fresh config files.

Alternatively, if you still have a zc_install folder on the server, just delete both config files, and the installer should re-run, and complete for you.

You don't need to uninstall it - you just need to delete the configure.php files.

That'll start the installer all over again!

Sorry, I didn't check my thread again. I didn't think there would be anymore responses.

Strangely enough, changes to image files appear right away. It's when I make changes to the **stylesheet.css **or the configure.php files that they take forever to show up. I thought the problem was my browser (Firefox), but the same thing happens intermittently with Internet Explorer too. Do you think this is also caused by my host caching my files? Is the solution as simple as asking them not to?

Thanks,

Inosia
