Uploading htaccess to root prior to install results in 500 internal error

Hi,

Sorry if this has been answered before - i did search the forum and the faq!

The issue i am having is .....

Prior to installing the latest zen cart - the Prerequisites page says that i have registered globals on. So i create an htaccess file with the following:

php_value session.use_trans_sid off
php_value register_globals off
#php_value register_globals off
<Files ".ht*">
deny from all
</Files>

When i upload the .htaccess ( ascii ) to the root of the folder then click re-check i get a 500 internal server error!

Can anyone suggest what the problem might be?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Uploading htaccess to root prior to install results in 500 internal error

Solved the problem!

The site is being tested on Host Gator servers which use "PHPSuExec" meaning a .htaccess override would not work.

Used a php.ini instead and everything worked.
