Installing I get gobbledygook after database install

Downloaded latest version of Zencart today directly to my webserver, CentOS, PHP 5.3, MySQL 5.1.39.

Running zc_install the config checks are all green apart from an alert on the database.

I enter all the relevant info for database setup and submit. The next page; zc_install/index.php?main_page=database_setup is filled with gobbledygook random text.

I checked whether the database had been updated in phpmyadmin and it has. Therefore the script is authenticating and updating the database then crashing.

I installed the patch for PHP 5.3 but I get the same result.

Suggestions welcomed.

When you say that you get random text, can you post a snippet here?

One man's meat is another man's poison! What's rubbish to you may well be very telling to someone else.... On the other hand, it could just be random text.....
