Re: Run Music in background of site

I think auto-run music on a website annoys almost everyone who encounters it, and adds nothing to an ecommerce shopping experience. I also leave such sites immediately.

Re: Run Music in background of site

thanks for you input i think i will leave the music. The only other thing i would like to do is add buttons to my site in the catagories section like on this site http://www.balimystique.com.au/store/Default.asp if someone could help me with that it would be much appreciated.

Thank you for your input

Re: Run Music in background of site

If you think music is appropriate for your site, them by all means do it. Let your customers and results guide you as your site evolves.

There is lots of good technical info available here, but don't be so easily swayed by others opinions. Do what YOU want.

Oh, and BTW, I always immediately leave websites run by web-masters who bend so easily to other peoples will. :wink:

Re: Run Music in background of site

The site does not display correctly in Chrome - all of the content is pushed to one side (off the page) and was quite slow to load. Perhaps the top banner is too tall and is pushing the main content across?? I am no good on css so you will need help from someone else to help you with this. I quite liked the style of the site - the wood theme suited the products well but it took me a while to realise that all of the stuff was waiting for me to scroll a long way right to see it. I only get a few visitors to my site on Chrome but if you can fix it, will be better.

Sorry - another vote for no music. I really hate this in websites - it is so annoying that I tend to back out quickly. I might be interested in a separate page where you could optionally play some music from various countries that are relevant to your products with some interesting background info - that might add value to the site but as a visitor, I would want to be in control with the Play/Stop button.

cheers
Leah

Re: Run Music in background of site

For the record, I'm another that will leave a site at the first sign of background noise (aka 'music'). I don't even hang around for the page to finish loading.

Cheers
rod

If you switch template to default Classic, and site displays
correctly, then your current template is causing problem...
so then use another or customise Classic to your own design..

Re: Run Music in background of site

Find in your stylesheet.css```
#logo {
float: left;
padding-top: 17px;
}

Then find the same ```
#logo {
	float: left;
    padding-top: 17px;
    }
```in your stylesheet_new.css and delete the whole rule. It is not good to have duplicate rules as this can lead to confusion.
