Previewing new products

I would like to be able to preview what a product display will look like in the ZenCart shop before that product goes live to customers.

To prevent customers seeing a product before I am finished adding its data, I flag it as 'out of stock'. It then doesn't appear in any of the product listings or search results but, since I know the product id, I can view it using a URL such as:
index.php?main_page=product_book_info&products_id=7

However, although all the other product data appears, the product images are missing.

Is there any admin setting or code change I can make to enable the product images to be viewable for an out of stock product?

Any product that is marked Out of Stock or products_status = 0 should not show, even if you try to force it with the products_id manually ...

This prevents access from search engines and old links to a Product that is disabled ...

OK.That makes sense. I hadn't thought of the potential of out of stock items appearing in repsonse to an external search.

Sounds as if there may be a weakness in the book_product add-on that enables display of out of stock product. Guess I'd better try to track that down and disable it.
