Need help adding image to main page

Hi All,

I'm using zen 1.3.8. and am trying to add a linkable graphic image to my main page between H1 and where the body content begins and I'm having trouble with it.

I did the following steps:

  1. added the image to my text editor (kompozer) with the rest of my content
    2.Copied the html code to my define main pg file in Tools> Define Pages Editor>define_main_page.php
  2. uploaded the images to my public_html>images folder

Yet all i get is text links, no images. Not sure what I'm doing wrong... any help would be appreciated. My guess is I'm missing a step.

Thanks!

Oh PS. If I wanted to add an Affiliate banner in that space instead (or in addition to) would the steps be similiar to adding a linkable image??

Re: Need help adding image to main page

What is the image source filepath in your HTML? Wherever it was pointing to when you composed the HTML is not where it now resides in your site /images/ folder.

Re: Need help adding image to main page

well I just looked at the code for one of the images...it's

<a
href="http://www.thrift4kids.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=3"><big><img
style="border: 0px solid ; width: 91px; height: 80px;" alt=""
src="../../dreamstime%20potentials/1211476797hp35V9.jpg"></big></a><big>
  </big><a

not sure what path it follows??? :unsure:

I basically used the 'add image' option on my text editor, copied the code from the 'source' and then added to my define_main_page.php.

Re: Need help adding image to main page

You have src="../../dreamstime%20potentials/1211476797hp35V9.jpg"
which is no location in your Zen Cart structure. It was presumably the location on your pc when you added the image in your editor.

Change it to
src="images/1211476797hp35V9.jpg"
if you uploaded it to the main /images/ folder on your server, or something similar depending on your setup. Do you have IH2 installed on your site? That would probably affect the location.

Re: Need help adding image to main page

I'll give that a try. I actually do have IH2. How would that affect anything? Doesn't IH2 only work for images I've uploaded through my catalog/product listings? :blink:

Sorry if i'm not putting 2 and 2 together...i'm a bit tired at the moment :sleep1:

Re: Need help adding image to main page

I don't use IH2, so can't tell you exactly what images it will affect. Try using the ZC filepath to the image, wherever it is located on your server - not the absolute path (leave off the
http: //yourdomain. com/ part).

Re: Need help adding image to main page

OMG I was making it so much more complicated than it had to be. I got it to work, and here's how I did it (just in case anyone else would like to know :smile:)

1.uploaded the image I wanted to use to my public_html/images folder
2. went into Tools>Define Pages Editor
3. switch Text Editor from 'text area' to 'htmlarea'
4. went into define_main_page.php
5. click on 'insert image' icon and place cursor where I wanted the image to appear...a box pops asking for the url of the image and I just put /images/nameofimage.jpg and waalaa image appears
6. to make the image linkable I just clicked on the 'link' icon and put the url i wanted the image to be directed to.

PS if you want to take the image out, I noticed that you have to switch back to 'textarea' to do so. I wasn't able to delete it in the 'htmlarea' for some reason :wacko:

Thanks again for your help!!!

Re: Need help adding image to main page

I easiest way I found to add images and text was to get Xinha from Free Software Addons. Install it, read the directions and it works great with "Define Pages Editor":clap:
