of all products and clear categories?

Simplest to insure that every table is cleared is from the admin delete by category

it seems to indicate killing the categories will leave the products orphans and can cause problems
can anyone clarify?

One could install a test shop with no cats or products
Make a proper backup BUT only select ALL tables that have anything to do with categories, products, attributes
Apply this to whre you want it wiped
If there are customers and orders in this you will break things
