zip code disappears on create account reset - How Did you Hear addon

I have an unusual problem when someone trys to create an account. When they fill out the form but miss something important, for example, they did not reconfirm their password. Then zen cart tells them they did not fill in the password confirmation when they try to submit the form. Everything else is still pre filled in except the post code or zip code which deletes. This happens when even the basic zen cart is installed. It means that when the customer fills in the password confirmation and try to submit again they then get an error message saying that the postcode is not filled in. I am using Zen-Cart version 1.38.

I used the wrong example by mistake with regards to the password confirmation as that gives a Java script error and so does not refresh the page. However, it occurs with the email address reconfirmation and how did you hear about us fields where if you leave it blank or enter in the wrong details then it refreshes without the post code. Is there any way to put everything as java script errors so the page does not refresh?

I managed to fix the email address confirmation I had missed out some of the instructions from the confirm_email_address_entry add on. So I am wondering is it possible to do a java script error pop up How did you hear about us add on. I could possibly be able to try and make something but it would take me a lot of trial and errors. Has anyone got a template for how to do the java script error pop up or do I try and work it out from the confirm_email_address_entry add on. Any help would be much appreciated please.

I did manage to do a javascript error for the How did you hear about us add on as follows:

**1. First install How did you hear about us add on

2. Then find

** /includes/languages/YOURTEMPLATE/english.php

Search for:
define('ENTRY_REFERENCE_FROM', 'How did you hear about us?');

…right after that line enter the following…

define('ENTRY_REFERENCE_FROM_ERROR', 'You must select a choice from How did you hear about us? pull down menu.');

3. Then find
/includes/modules/pages/create_account/jscript_form_check.php

Search for:

check_select("country", "", "<?php echo ENTRY_COUNTRY_ERROR; ?>");

…right after that line enter the following…

check_select("source", "", "<?php echo ENTRY_REFERENCE_FROM_ERROR; ?>");

That should give a java script error for the dropdown menu itself.

However, I need some help to do a javascript error if someone chooses the "other" option from the how did you hear about us drop down menu but leaves the "other" field blank. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
