Parse Time - Are these slow?

Recently moved a site to a new host due to problems with the old one and am getting the following parse time...

Parse Time: 7.742 - Number of Queries: 1272 - Query Time: 1.74376048755
Parse Time: 3.427 - Number of Queries: 1252 - Query Time: 1.70097852321
Parse Time: 0.461 - Number of Queries: 1239 - Query Time: 0.178761079987
Parse Time: 0.506 - Number of Queries: 1250 - Query Time: 0.201998059998
Parse Time: 0.688 - Number of Queries: 1269 - Query Time: 0.179524594101

Now, it has only been a day or two after the site was moved so maybe that's affecting the speed (it wasn't this bad with the old host) but im not too sure. Email syncing with Outlook is also slow.

Have followed the faq/tutorial about speeding up the site but it doesnt seem to have made much difference.

Thinking of installing Query Cache by data-digger to lessen the number of queries. Any feedback on this module would be great.

Advice on further speeding up the site would be much appreciated.

Your times are dramatically different from the first 2 vs the last 4 ...

You would have to specifically look at where are you or what you are doing when you get the 7 seconds vs the 0.4 second time ...

The ones over a second are way too high ... while the ones under a second are excellent ...

All times are in the homepage...
The first one is when you first visit the site...second is when you refresh after a couple of minutes...the last four are 4 continous refresh of the page (maybe 10-20 seconds intervals)
Is it normal to have such high number of queries?

Same page and that much difference in parse time? Does the same happen on another computer? If so, you may want to ask your hosting company a few questions.

Number of queries very much depends on the content / links / images etc of the page you are trying to load

Yes, same thing happening in all 3 computers the site were viewed on. Done some tests and the results follows...

Parse Time: 2.349 - Number of Queries: 680 - Query Time: 1.73814074194 - This is when you first view the site
Parse Time: 0.765 - Number of Queries: 677 - Query Time: 0.541112541901 - Page refresh after a couple of minutes from the first
Parse Time: 0.539 - Number of Queries: 679 - Query Time: 0.289093135742 - Page refresh with 10-20 seconds intervals.
Parse Time: 0.485 - Number of Queries: 681 - Query Time: 0.25627042395 - Page refresh with 10-20 seconds intervals.
Parse Time: 0.443 - Number of Queries: 676 - Query Time: 0.224001640564 - Page refresh with 10-20 seconds intervals.
Parse Time: 1.898 - Number of Queries: 676 - Query Time: 1.67513363152 - Page refresh after a couple of minutes
Parse Time: 1.975 - Number of Queries: 682 - Query Time: 1.71394163843 - Page refresh after a couple of minutes

All of these are in the homepage but the same pretty much happens on other pages such as product listing, category listing etc. A bit disappointed with this considering this is supposed to be on a high end server.

Done some tests on pretty much the same site but in a shared hosting (different webhost) and the difference is quite high...

What should we ask the webhost?

I would just present them with these figures and ask them to "please explain"
