zone and sorry not shipping in your region

In my Fantasies Realm Market I got that message awhile ago and got it to go away by installing the Express paypal module.

Now it is back but with a twist...the first time it showed but payment was not affected, this time:

the customer is offered both the "checkout" button and the "paypal" button.

This customer is in germany, all my items are downloadable nothing ships so shipping is free.

in modules/shipping I have only free shipping installed

module/payment there is only free charger and paypal express installed

I have no taxes/shipping in my paypal account chosen. I have no zones chosen for shpping or paypal modules either.

now when she clicks the checkout button she is in an endless loop...she is presented with the message and if she clicks continue checkout she is brought right back to the page.

If she clicks the paypal button it should send her to paypal to pay for her order but we have not tried it out yet for in case it also will not let her download her items.

I have included the image of the error, can someone please tell me what I may not have selected while setting things to no shipping costs?

Zen Cart automatically knows that downloadable items don't require shipping.
Thus, you don't need to (and should not actually) set them to Free Shipping.

The "not shipping to your region at this time" message appears when none of the enabled shipping modules can be used for the current order because of restrictions.

In your case it sounds like you've got the free-shipping module set up with a zone restriction instead of leaving it set to -None-.
And, since you've flagged your products as needing free-shipping, the free-shipping module is being forced to attempt to activate, but can't due to restrictions, and thus Zen Cart is properly telling you that it cannot offer any shipping options to the customer at this time.

If the message is saying "not shipping to your region...", then the problem is not with your payment modules, but rather is with your shipping modules.
That's where your zone restrictions will be set wrong.

update:

I went into configuration/shippins and packaging and made "rder free shipping 0 wiehgt status" set to 1 so that it now gives the messae that this is the only method there is for shipping.

I went into her account to check it and the red words are now gone so hopefull anyone else out of country will now be able to NOT get that message...it made it look like they were not able to buy things.

I am an idiot...it finally occurred to me to look at the product descriptions and yes --- dummy dumbo went and clicked no in the always free shipping setting.

talk about being dumb. I will go thru all the items now and change them to be Yes always free shipping

is there a way to do it all at once or do i need to individually do it.

No, no. My point was that they should NOT be marked as free-shipping.

Download Products are setup as:

Downloads already know, based on the filename on the attributes, that there is no shipping ...

The checkout_shipping page will never show when only Download Products are in the shopping cart ...

If you do see the checkout_shipping on a shopping cart with only Downloads in it, then something is setup incorrectly ...

The Attributes for the Download should show the filename with a green dot next to it to indicate that the download file is on the server ...

The Download file should be loaded in the:
/download

directory and the /pub should be set to 777 to allow the Download to be accessed after the order is made ...

Based on this, are you still seeing the checkout_shipping when trying to checkout?

I am also not quite following how you have your Gift Certificates setup as they have attributes on them and I am not sure if you are including a Download on those or what ... but this is for another issue once your Downloads are working correctly ...

I am so sorry I think I got everyone very confuse---a job I do very well.

The downloads work what the problem was is the error message that was occuring for my customer from germany:

and my gift certificates is what sparked the error message I think.

What the customer did was, go to the gv part of the store and chose a $10.00 gift certificate> went to her shopping cart> chose checkout via the checkout button and was presented with the error meeage then she clicked continue checkout and was brought back to the page never to checkout.

The GV's I think have the right attributes, since there is no download for them I just gave them an option name: text and option value: gv

should I have a different set of names? I finally got the error to go away with the shipping settings, sorry I tried so many things I can't remember what I changed that allowed it.

she was finally able to purchase her gv but it never showed up in her account, like it is supposed to nor did it show in the queue either. I tested it with a test account and it allows the purchase but still does not get put into the account...I have turned off the queue setting.

Other than the shipping error showing up the gift certificate is the only naughty item--so far--that is not working right. This is the first time anyone has purchased a gift certificate.

I went through the FAQ and found the articles on GV's which is how I found out that we forgot to set up attributes for it

I will post the image of the attribute page for one of the gv's from the other computer and the description setup page too to see if I messed it up too.

GVs do not need Attributes at all ...

Edit the GVs that you have and make the following changes:

1 edit the Product and change the Product Model to: GIFTanything here ... Gift Certificates require that the Product Model begin with:
GIFT

that must be in upper case ... so things like:
GIFT10
GIFT_10
GIFTTEN
etc.

are valid ... now the Product will "act" like a GV so that it can be purchased and Queued for Release in the Admin once payment has been confirmed ...

2 delete the attributes from the GVs, these have no purpose unless you were making the GVs with various prices and the Attributes were used for these various prices ...

That's the only unique handling of model names in the current version of Zen Cart (now 1.3.8a).

well I knew the others were downloading right but just thought to ask in case we ever did anything else like a gv setup..thanks to you both
