Credit Check

Hi Im thinking of getting Zen Cart. My question is there any fee for Credit Card transactions. The Zen Cart software is free but isnt there a fee for the transaction if someone wants to use a credit card to buy something off the website? Do I have to subscribe to a credit check service that processing the transaction of the credit card?

Zen Cart doesn't handle payments directly. It only interacts with payment services which you tell it to use. You'll need a payment gateway for that. All gateways charge fees.

I don't think you understand how credit card payment works...

Credit cards are processed by a BANK.

Zencart is NOT A BANK. It is just computer software.

Zencart provides a LINK TO THE BANK WEBSITE.

When that link is made, THE BANK takes the payment from the customer and gives it to you (the shop owner).

But before it gives you the money, it takes off a little bit for itself - the transaction fee.
