My Define Pages & make new categories not working

Hi,

I have a problem that i cannot find anywhere else. I recently had 2 sites on a hostgator server - i moved these sites (following instructions) to another hostgator server (a reseller account). At first all seemed well but i have now realised that if i go into define pages and make a change it doesnt keep the change. I can go in via ftp and manually edit the define pages and the page then shows the updated text. Also, if i go to catalogue i cannot make a new category - it gives me the correct screens but when i save it and check the category list the new one isnt there. ALthough i can edit a previous one already there. The sites payment systems work fine, new orders appear on the orders list and customers appear in the customers list - its just that i cant make certain changes. Ive been trying to work this out for a week now and am appealing to you all to help! Any have any ideas?

I'm not sure about the server move, but I do know that an inability to use certain admin functions can result from applying the latest security patch to the cart section rather than admin.

That said, your define pages problem sounds more like a permissions issue. Are those define files writable?

hi - i did read a thread before about that - i decided to re-apply the patch to see if it would fix it and no joy. But, being stubborn i went back to it and selected the admin/includes/functions/html_output.php file (full path there just in case anyone else needs to try it and doesnt know where it is!) that is within the patch files - and i ftp'd that file on its own to the corresponding server directory - it asked to over write - of course i agreed and hey presto everything now works again! Dont ask me why it didnt work when i copied the entire patch across - just glad i was stubborn enough to try the file on its own! Thanks for the help - much appreciated

One can double check that files have a new modified date/time corresponsing to when you uploaded them
