Catagories page taking 18 seconds to load

Help someone can shed some light.

When I click on sub catagory page it takes over 18 seconds to respond with over 12 thousand queries being sent.

using 1.3.8a

All my products approx 1100, belong to multiple catagories

I have checked that i have NO products within catagory that has sub catagories.

See if you can turn on GZip for your site in the Configuration ... GZip ...

Then, look at the Configuration ... Index Listing ... and turn off the:

Show New Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show New Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
0= off or set the sort order

Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Featured Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
0= off or set the sort order

Show Special Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Special Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
0= off or set the sort order

Show Upcoming Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
Show Upcoming Products on Main Page - Category with SubCategories
0= off or set the sort order

and see if that makes a difference ...

Sometimes it is not worth having these on based on the layout of your site where you have so many categories to drill through ...

Or, you have these settings on and you are not using them ... the same "work" is done to obtain no results ...

Now you can experiment with things such as, you have Specials ... so what is the affect of turning on the Specials?
