Help Making Hover Blocks in EZPages

ok, I resisted posting for a couple days on this. I just can't seem to figure it out!

I am trying to create an effect like this for my ezpagesTOP section:

That's just a tutorial thing I was trying to incorporate into my site.
Here's my site-

What I THINK the problem is- is that the EZPages DOES NOT use a UL or LI type layout. At least, not what I can tell. I don't know how to create the same effect without that.

I don't know enough about CSS to create that effect. Essentially, I want a BLOCK around the link, and a side-border on each of them (to the right side?), so they're square tabs, complete with hover effect, etc. Not sure if that makes sense, my mind is a blur now.

I'd REALLY love some input on how to create this effect.
