SubZones don't appear

I'm attempting to make new zones.

I navigate to Zone Definitions>Details> Insert
I then choose a Country code of 'United States'
I then expect the Zone dropdown to populate with states, but all it contains is 'All Zones.'

Any thoughts on why this might be? Of course I am assuming this is the proper way to set up zones in the first place.

If no provinces / states / counties are displayed, then they do not exist in the database and must be added in first.

Only a handful of COUNTRIES are populated with their STATES (Counties / Provnces) in a standard ZC install. As for the rest... they have to be added in.

This can be done with a SQL statement, but unless you know what you are doing, best add them manually. (A real headache if you are UK-based)

That makes sense except that the ZC standard install comes with all of the United States loaded as zones. AND..I've already created a different zone for the lower 48 states which includes all the states. Except for that one I did it via a SQL statement.

... probably the culprit... If nothing is showing up now, then your sql could have been faulty, messing up the table.

What is listed in the zones table? Use phpMyadmin to look.

'zones' table is fully populated and essentially matches the Locations>Zones section of my admin.

The problem is probably more related to the geo_zones table. On my other test site, which works, the geo zones table has nothing in it. In my live site the table is populated with a ton of data(probably from that SQL). But at the same time that is sort of expected considering my live site actually has zones defined.

I'm thinking I should clear the geo zones table and start from scratch, but need to find a way to do so without blowing up the table.

A little more. Here is my thinking.

Possible breakdown points:
a) the SQL in the file is incorrect - coding is off
b) the tables are incorrect - the zones country ID, doesn't actually match the Country ID in the country table

So I checked these and can't find anything wrong. Both match the other store I have that works.

Since other zones are already working, rather than clear the table as previously stated, I will probably just set up a new SQL statement to insert all the zones I need for the new definition. Doesn't fix the problem, but it will be a workable solution.
