Allowing updates from purchase history
OK, I am at the point where I am ready to build the product pages, and add the shopping cart to make the purchases. Before I get too far into this, I have some questions on the feasibility of my plan.
I will be selling down-loadable scripts, scripts that from time to time will need to be updated as the information changes. My plan is that, once the original script is purchased the buyer will be advised by email of free updates, and will need to log on and go to their "Available downloads" page to download the upgrade. There will be no fee for that, so it's just a matter of linking to the (hidden?) URL for the file and start the download.
Is this a workable plan, and what tips do you have on the best way to implement it?
