catagories question

when you click on a category heading it opens the sub-category list below it. right now it centers the list. is there a way to force it so that it always stays left as it expands?

on that note, how do you force the text in the boxes such as category, information, etc to align left?

im in the css but i am not really sure what im looking for.

I searched on google for template monster coupons so if you buy one do that. it saved me around $18 on the cost. it was pretty easy to load up on the server and adjust using the zen cart book. that was worth $50 as well. the images i got from istock photo. for a a minimal cost you can get some great images to use legally on your site. there is also an option to purchase rights for using images for print material like shirts etc if you need that as well.

Im not a php programmer. i have some html background so can muddle through but for me the template was the best option. i wantd something close to turn key that had a quaility finished look without a huge cost. i did some searching for custom site designers on elance and most were 500 on up which was not in my budget. a few seemed to quote the price and were offering a template anyways.

the only thing i have noticed is that prople are reluctant or not willing to really help troubleshoot issues with 3rd party templates on here for some reason. i know its about the basic zen cart software but some of the questions i had were about that and not the template itself. so who knows lol. anyways if you have any questions feel free to ask. the book is a great resource!

Thanks I really appreciate the detailed response. I put so much effort into modifying the template I started with it's hard to know whether to carry on or start with a professional template. There are some really nice things in the template that I am using, but I have had to customise so much. I think I am past the half way mark and I am getting better at working out how to do things, so I am going to cary on for a bit and see what happens.

Two reasons, mostly:

1. Template Monster templates often edit core files in addition to overridable template files, so there isn't any way for us here in the forums to test changes before we advise you, as we can with changes made in the stylesheet. We would have to have the template in question installed to offer advice, and it obviously isn't reasonable to expect the volunteers here to buy all of TM's templates.

2. You paid good money for that template. You should, it seems to me, expect the people to sold it to you to help you fix it if it doesn't work. Too often, they won't, which is another reason most here recommend against using them.

All that said, many people here, including me, routinely help with TM template problems.

i can understand not wanting to offer support on the template. a question i asked was about a standard zen cart feature but im not a pro so i could be wrong. its why i bought template in the first place. i dont have the time to learn php. i wish i did becuase it does seem interesting. i just get the vibe that its more and an anti-template monster thing than not wanting to help. i dont know i am probably wrong. i will say that i have submitted a ticket for assistance with mine and template monster gave me support. i gues maybe other peoples experiences were different.

The question you originally asked was a Zencart question, but it's something that can be template-driven, especially by TM templates, which, as I mentioned, often change core functions. That's why the whole TM thing started.

I'd agree that the 'vibe' here can seem unreasonably anti-TM, but there are reasons, especially for those who have been around here a while and see the same issues with the same shoddily-coded templates time and again. You'll have to forgive us our occasional crankiness and be glad you didn't ask about a TM problem on a GoDaddy-hosted site :laugh: .
