change display order of products

I have searched the forums but I am confused by all the stuff I find...

In this listing, the products are out of order.

I have gone into configuration>> product listing>> display product listing default sort order ,but I do not know which values can be put in there to change anything.

I would like them to sort by price. Ascending. I have included model numbers in the items for clarification how I would like them to appear. Please help.....

When you add or edit a product, there is a field at the bottom into which you can enter a numerical value - the Sort Order field.

That worked for one of the products pages but not both. All products still appears out of order while if i use the categories link to view them they are in the correct order... :dontgetit
